    David Loder

Loder's been pre-training and training pointers in recent times. He recruited Alan McCabe last year to take formal charge of the yard he owns in Shropshire, so this isn't an entirely new venture. I believe the pair are operating out of the same property, but on separate licences now although I...

    What are you backing Today?

"The Veterinary Officer reported that ROCK LOBSTER, unplaced, trained by Ed Dunlop, banged its head in the stalls and lost a tooth."

Thanks Alan - that's very much appreciated, as are the other kind words on the thread.

It's a fine question, EC1, and I think it might be cathartic for me to answer it in a slightly longwinded way. They say "Those that can do, and those that can't teach", and while I might be a bit offended if someone aimed that at me, I need to acknowledge that I don't have the kind of mentality...

    Cheers Dan - much appreciated.

    Rory turns 'pro'

I'm flattered by the attention gents! The name wasn't my idea (I wanted to call it "**** Me - there's two of them!", but that was turned down by Betting School, the site which devised and markets the service, and the poor grammar on the homepage is down to them too). I'm not going to spam the...

    Ideas for The Morning Line

Kind of you to elevate my press room status, EC1, but I suspect Gearoid is correct in his assessment of my influence. On the other hand, Nick Luck's mother is allegedly a fan of my work (I kid you not), so there's a sliver of hope! It's a good topic for discussion all the same, and while I take...

    SL Naps Table

Cahal didn't seem to handle the track at Hamilton, losing his place in the dip and just plugging on late. Not enough of an excuse, though. Tomorrow's nap is Dutch Lady in the 5.55 at Thirsk. She's a C&D winner who needs a strong pace to run at (didn't get that here last time), and should get a...

Should have asked - have you sorted out a passport yet for Cheltenham? Can't have these foreigners running around unchecked.

Being doing bits and pieces since Gold Cup Day (rushed home from visiting the newborn in hospital to write the first one), and think the tipping thing came along at an opportune time. Let's hope it works out better than RUK....

Well, a winner's a winner, although the SP of 4/9 was pitiful. Here's tomorrow's nap and rationale, if you're interested: Irish Field Nap

    SL Naps Table

Can someone delete this thread please  Today's nap was a last minute substitution, btw, after my original choice (Duke Cosimo) was taken out late yesterday afternoon. The RP kindly rang and asked for another, which I suspect wouldn't be the case if I was twentieth on the list.

Cheltenham Festival Preview - advice required!

    1) depends on your audience, and whether you go for a meal as part of the deal, but as others have said, a tenner is enough to guarantee a crowd, and more would put people off, unless you were convinced you had some unique selling point. 2) food needn't be fancy, but a good preview will take...

    Gordy Clarkson, I'd imagine.

    Sir Mark Prescott Bt

Horses have been wrong, and yard dormant until the issue is sorted.

So who's the wee man wi' the big heid?

Have heard a bit more about this, including allegations a leading apprentice (no guesses needed) was left in tears after an altercation with a senior jockey. It seems being "too big for your boots" translates as "not knowing your place". I'd just call it bullying, if true.

    Australian Hurdler

And for good reason. It's true that the second had been trained by Michael Stoute as a youngster, but Stoutey said cheerio to him several years prior to his twig-hopping foray.

    Australian Hurdler

Not sure about winning a Graded hurdle, but Specular and Zabenz were a couple of top Australian hurdlers to be imported to the UK in the last dozen years or so.

    Ubedizzy

His groom was current trainer Andy Crook, who still has the battle scars (Ubedizzy bit off half his thumb).
