2025 Pendil Novices' Chase

Rather than start a thread for each race, maybe use existing novice hurdle/chase threads to make a season easier to follow
Careful here, I think.

Ian made a huge effort last week to get the board back to normal, by posting up a list of interesting individual races over the last weekend. I think it worked, too - it certainly provoked a great deal of conversation.

I'm not saying this because of my fast-developing sexual relationship with Ian, but I prefer the individual threads since I don't need to read stuff about races in which I have no interest and if I do decide to take an interest in a specific race I know exactly where to find it.

As a female colleague 25 years my junior once said to me when I turned up for work one Inset day 'smart but casual' rather than in my usual suit, shirt and tie, "Works for me!"

I think sticking them all on just one or two threads would make for very messy discussion as you tried to sort out what had been said about each named race. Individual threads might clog up the board a bit, but seems the best option.

As stated before the Reynoldstown last Saturday, I wasn't too thrilled with the way Jingko Blue jumped when I saw him at Windsor and he certainly didn't get very far a few days ago.

I think he's a talented horse, with a "good engine," as they say nowadays, but a natural chaser?

Jury out on that for me and I wouldn't blame anyone for taking him on.

They haven’t had much time to sharpen up his jumping, either. Henderson said he was anxious to get a run into him, presumably to prep or inform his Brown Advisory entry.

Jingko Blue
Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, 16-1

With us leaning towards the two-miler for Jangio Baie, Jingko Blue's run over three miles in the Reynoldstown at Ascot on Saturday was a bit of a fact-finding mission, but with him unseating Nico at the third fence, it didn't tell us an awful lot.

Those two horses are in the same ownership, so it would be a logical step to try to persuade Jango Baie that he's a two-miler and send Jingko Blue for the Brown Advisory, but we'll have to wait and see. I'd like to run Jingko Blue in the Pendil over two and a half miles at Kempton this Saturday, but he was a bit stiff this morning [Sunday], and don't forget he galloped three miles at Ascot, albeit riderless; so we'll see how he is later in the week and make a decision.

I'd be extremely interested in Imperial Saint for this.

He travelled like the winner all day long last time at Cheltenham in a hot handicap.

Perhaps he didn't get up the hill that well or whatever, so maybe Kempton will allow him to see it through better.

As per usual, the enemy hasn't missed a trick, pricing him up at between 2 and 3/1 ante post.

I'm looking for somethimg else to double him up with at the moment.

Maybe the good Dr TJ Eckleburg over at Chepstow, or even Ian's Nap Iroko, don't worry or panic, I'll post on the what I am backing on Saturday thread nearer the time. 😂

Massively useful this imo - Jingko Blue at 7/4 is taking up a 36% chunk of a 117% at best prices ante-post book on Oddschecker so, if he doesn't run, the rest of the field are overbroke at 81%.

If you can identify a certain runner among them, you might be sitting on a good bet come Saturday and, at worst, even if Jingko Blue runs, you're taking on a jolly who doesn't look the most fluent jumper so far.

10am, six declared so far, I can't see Jingko Blue among them.

If he's out, I hope some forumites got on those who are definitely running at what could be juicy ante-post prices.

I will post a betting link once declarations are confirmed and Oddschecker create a price comparison page to link to.

I can’t think that Skelton’s are best pleased that L’Eau De Sud had to work harder than they would have liked with Rubaud finishing much the stronger last time. That was a decent run and I think Rubaud is a rightful favourite in this. I’ll wait for the day since there may still be a question mark over Nicholls runners, so the market will be informative. If that means getting a shorter price, so be it.

I’m a big fan of Rubaud who’s obliged for me a few times but I think he’s a bit skinny for this. The overnight rain won’t have helped his chance and the better bet at the prices would be Imperial Saint for me
