Claisse reported that minor alterations have been made to the second-last fence on the old course following the death of Paul Nicholls' Granit Jack in November.
He added: "After extensive consultation between jockeys, trainers, vets and the BHA we have made minor alterations to the second-last fence on the old course.
"We have altered the profile by pulling out the toe-board by six inches and by rounding off the shoulder.
"Denis O'Regan jumped the fence a couple of weeks ago on a horse of Howard Johnson's and said it was perfect.
Will this alteration make a difference ??
I hope the change will be for the better considering the falls that have been at that fence...., but they will still be going a fair pace coming down hill approaching it , having to get balanced, then jump the fence..Their will still imo be horses that will meet it all wrong, or jump it awkwardly .. but if the alteration helps maybe an un balanced horse on landing get himself back together (so to speak) and stops injury that can only be a good thing IMO ...
wonder what imput the jockeys had ?
