At the start of August after a tidy win on Mark Hensby in the Golf and the start of the football season starting, I decided to go full whack back into betting. I have been doing very little over the summer because I have an awful record on the flat so I mainly stick to sports betting.

My plan is normally simple. Take a set emount a week (normally €50) as an imaginary bank and try to break even over the month. So at the end of August with a modest strike rate you should have put €200 to your original bank. As each month goes on you can afford the enivatable losing runs that occur. If you get close to breaking even every month your bank will build nicely and you will have a tidy sum. Its just a simple way I use to keep my betting money to one side and it works well for me...... normally!!

However, I had not banked on not only not getting close to breaking even but not backing a winner! I actually think its hilarious. I've had around 12 bets and this is the resulting balance. I've posted it here as a bit of forum therapy rather than the General Racing section.

Stick to tennis bets and only with William Hill. Very brave to put that sort of info on here.

After a (still going on) poor August following the horses, I just had a look at my Betfair acc (sterling) for the last 30 days to see just how bad things have been in general.

Golf +150.65
Racing -214.27
Soccer -5

Total P&L -68.62

This is not taking into account what is probably (not done the sums) a €300 odd loss on my cash betting over the last 3 weeks, all on horse racing, and I think its time to take a look at my Racing selections.............. :(

;) Thanks An but I'm not looking for advice really. I lost another score tonight on Liverpool 1-0 @ 11/2. Still I fancy I can get out of this....... eventually

I laid 2-2 in MyPa's last match. They were winning 2-1 and lost a goal in injury time. Gutted Central here I come!

Oh, and I also laid 0-0 in last night's Partisan Belgrade match. GC here I come again!

Phil, this is not the Betfair forum. You cant hijack my thread with your own problems. This is my thread of misery and self pity...

For the record...

Month____ Bank____ Balance____ Bets____ Winners____ Losers_____ Ante Post
August____ €200_____ -155.51____ 15_______ 1_________ 14________ 1 (€50)

SR%_____ Avr Stake_____ Highest Stake
6.66%_____ €29______ __€50 (x2)

The what?

And Gearoid, surely you took the excellent advice offered to you with regards Omonia (won 2-1) and Cork (0-0)?

I've not used it Brian but off the top of my head it would be down slightly due to last weeks home wins. Man City was the only first day selection at they drew 0-0.

Phil, of course not. Instead I did another €50 on Djurgardens at 5/4.... I can see the corner to turn but I just cant get there.

Got a little bit back today, (€65) had two small bets and two winners. Its amazing when your on such a run that a small emount of money can give you such a boost. The first horse (€10 7/2 - Chaski Bath 5.45) got up my the a short head! The other one just held up on(€10 3/1 Suits Me - Newcastle 6.00), still its made me change my mind about reducing my stake today.

I'm having a €50 dbl Cardiff V Wolves and Hamilton V Dundee. Both are 5/4 and the dbl pays 4/1.

€10 trixie

Ipswich 10/11
Halifax Evs
Coventry V Southampton - Draw 11/5

€20 win Sam Parkin to score first 11/2 (couldnt resist the price  )

Watched the Ipswich game and decided to go to bed at 0-4! Woke up to find Halifax had won at the final leg was 1-1. Ecstatic to make a €4 profit on the day!

Tonight I'm going with Kenny Miller to score fist for Wolves. Like yestersay hes a general 4/1 chance so when I got 5/1, I cant resist. That and 13/8 on a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Wolves.
