is it not time to actually take part in the forum you view everyday?

there is a core of people who keep this forum going....come on..post here and say why you don't post much but read lots

we need more input...fook to posting on twitter and ignoring old fashioned forums.

you got a good place to post about your interest here..use it..no one bites..we all like our racing

We have lost a few regular posters recently and as a result the forum is a bit quieter than usual.

Hopefully they see it in time to return

Sorry, I'm as guilty as many in taking a voyeuristic interest. But I genuinely love this place - you guys are so knowledgeable and funny with it. I'll get more involved right away, though. Post on its way.

I'll second that. Have enjoyed reading the forum last few months but not posted / joined until EC1 has now rightly shamed me into it today.

Unfortunately i don't know that much about racing, more into my football, so will try not to make too much of a twat of myself :p

Cheers

Chit chat is busier than ever surely? Warbler is having fun :)

sport is quiet though.

And the racing is quieter and less wide ranging than on trf . Maybe.

You must have had grasshopper on ignore then

No offence intended this time (honestly), but that's actually quite a pithy little gem from an unlikely source

Not so sure that the original isn't sarcasm though? I really wouldn't like to say.

It might be quieter than on TRF but it's a hell of a lot more useful and the posters are far more knowledgable.

Do people really think we are quieter than TRF?

That was a snapshot a couple of mins ago. Guess which was from where.

Taking just the racing section from each

12 topics replied to on here, 12 on TRF, we have been down half the day and working at a snails pace for 3 days now.

No, seriously, some of it was beautifully argued. My fault was to join The Fly bandwagon from a financial point of view, but it didn't stop the CH from being the most anticipated race of the whole meeting.

I just don't have the time anymore to post or study, so popping in occasionally and reading the topics is my guilty pleasure. EC1 and other regular posters keep me sane. Thank you.

I wouldn't want anyone to think i was criticising people..what brought my post was the fact that we have many viewers at a lot of times..but the posts don't reflect it...basically people having time to read..so assume time to post

I don't want to always be posting as i doubt anyone does...but i do think its very easy to read a forum every day and just assume it will always be there without me doing anything.

I read other forums..not racing..and i do exactly what a ot of people do..i don't post on them..but read a lot..similar situation to this.

So its not a criticism..but we have a good place to meet here and i think with the threat of social media taking posters away we do have to make an effort to keep things going. I wish all those that have gone to twitter would come back...i've seen stuff on there where people post lots and are basically talking to themselves..no one replies..its a pointless media in many ways regarding discussing horse racing with the character limit.

I think you will also find that a lot of people are trying to get used to the new format of the forum. I have also noticed I get logged out every few minutes sometimes before I have completed a post which results in losing the post I had written. I find that frustrating.

At c. 4.5 posts a day over a seven and a half year period you set quite a precedence EC ;)

On a serious note well said but I would add be careful what you wish for as much as I like TRF, and still frequent it, there has been instances of members who have criticized the number of meaningless, rambling posts that offer no value at all, although to be fair it seems to have improved recently.

Posts are a good thing and the lifeblood of any forum but personally I'm not particularly interested in the debate of which horses over different periods would win over an intermediate trip. Although each to their own I suppose.

i think Slim held the record at one point:)

i think posts are good whether they interest me or not..i don't bother with threads if they don't appeal..but there is something for everyone if subjects are posted.

The same thing has happened to me several times Chef, and the result has been I haven't bothered re-typing the post out of frustration.

When I'm on my laptop it's not a problem and it seems to save what I wrote, but it always loses it when I've typed in on my I pad or phone, whihc is what I use most often.

Col is there anything you can do in the settings that leave us logged in longer if it appears there's been no activity? As Chef says, often this is because you're typing a post and the result is you lose it and don't bother re-typing.

I've never once had that problem, I have honestly been logged in for around 3 years, didnt even get logged out when I upgraded.

When you log in do you tick the 'keep me logged in button'?

I'll have a look at the cookie settings when I get home, see if theres anything I can change. If its happening mainly on phones or tablets, have you tried tapatalk?

No I've not tried tapatalk Col. I'll give it a go.

If I have that problem when I write a post imagine the problem Warbler has! :D
