There has to be at least one surely?

Two people same age/weight/metabolic rate etc

One runs five miles & the other walks five miles

Both would burn the same amount of calories?

It didn't sound right when I was told this many moons ago but it came up in a conversation last night & the more I think about the more it perhaps makes sense  after all the walker would be exercising for a lot longer than the runner

Gavin Hastings used to front a TV ad for Scottish Health (now there's a good example of oxymoron).

He started by asking the question, "Did you know that walking a mile uses up the same energy, or calories, as running a mile?"

Presumably it is a matter of the duration of the exercise. You can probably run a mile in under eight minutes but it would probably take 15-20 minutes to walk it.

Apparently short, sharp bursts followed by a period of recuperation are optimal.

So say 2 pints in fifteen minutes, followed by a single pint in twenty minutes, followed by 2 in fifteen and one in twenty etc etc would be ideal.

This may also apply to fitness...

In fitness that is called HIRT training trackside. In drinking I think it just hurts.

If one eats all the packets in a multi packet of crisps in one sitting, they are less calories than if one spreads them out over several days. I have spent years proving this and know it to be true.
