There was a report in the paper about a "young accountant" being stopped on the London Underground for being in possession of a cricket ball. It didn't mention the nationality or gender, but surely if the ball was in the possession of a young Englishman it would have presented a threat to no one?

Ah, but you didn't mention Englishman, did you? I'd say there's nearly an equal chance of it being an Aussie, the amount of 'em in London! Oh, hang on, you did say accountant rather than barman, silly me.......

(for the sake of clarity and before I get lamped one, I'd like to say I'm a massive fan of the Australian people - they are great. In fact I've often flirted with the idea of moving over there, having family already there. Hope that's put that one to bed!!!)

LordH, I am English, 'boy' is stretching things a bit, I'll grant you that, but if I started with a cricket ball in my hand and you were nearby I bet that after I had 'delivered' it you would not feel the same way. You would be able to talk but I doubt you would be able to walk.

I still have my keeping gloves, pads and that other most important item.
You should get it out and give it a good sniffing some time it does wonders for the sinuses.

As far as I recall there is no (cricket) equipment to protect the orifice into which I would squeeze the ball.
