For those of you who've missed this, she went over-drawn with her bank and was subjected to 31 seperate contacts be it by phone or threatening letter at all hours. She is a 31 year old single mum from Plymouth, and despite Halifax bank agreeing to waive the charges, they get pestering her for £775.
Her response?
She's sued for harrassment using some aspect of stalking legislation as I understand it (caught a snippet on the news)
Suffice to say, Halifax have agreed to settle out of court. Fair play to her. Alison gal, I salute your ingenuity and determination to take a stand. What I want to know is what implications might exist for the numerous nuisance telephone calls we all get from various financial services companies or telecomunications outfits. I suppose since it never went to court it hasn't yet been tested, but I do like the idea of being able to sue these call centres for repeat intrusions, and to do so under the guise of stalking, just tickles me
