I was sitting at the computer, as you do, when suddenly all the power cut out and I was left sitting in complete darkness. My mum is upstairs asleep and I think that houses behind all went black aswell as it was pitch black. It only lasted a few seconds and then everything came back on again but now im really scared... :(

What was it? I'm just scared that there's been another explosion...

We get power cuts two or three times a year. Very occasionally they last a few hours but usually only a matter of minutes but it tends not to happen at night. I'm sure if anything was amiss you'd soon know, Pepsimax.

I suppose you must be pretty much on edge all the time these days so you have my sympathy.

Just make sure you have a torch and your mobile phone near to the PC Pepsi in case it happens again.

or yes its applicable to a lot of places where by you get power surges and cuts...

I think you will find if a big match is on T/V and half times getting close theres a huge need for power(for a coffee or a cup of char??) so it sometimes trips out then ......forwarned is forarmed as the saying goes................. :P

What really gets me is why this government/fire services don't advertise the placing of 13 amp fuses in ALL domestic applainces is a NO NO and should be heeded at ALL times because it could cause a fire in the said appliance.........

You need i.e. the consumption i.e. watts divided by the power source i.e. 250 volts as a norm... so look at your appliance p/c kettle t/v and look at the wattage say a kettle has 1000 watts this should be fitted with a 5 amp fuse and so on...

formula being...
1000 watts divided by 250 volts = 4 times so a 5 amp fuse will suffice not a 13 amp fuse as you'll find the appliance will catch on fire instead of blowing the fuse....

I'm sure Pepsi feels much better now !!!!

Aww thank you for bothering to reply, I felt a bit silly when I read what I wrote! It didn't happen again, I was just overreacting because of the stupid bombs. I don't know how the police can possibly keep the situation under control, there aren't any police on buses and one of the bombs in the last set of explosions were on a bus which was just down the road...

Thanks xxx

Pepster, if it's any consolation to you, your part of London took the most extreme and prolonged bombing raids the Germans could manage in the Second World War. World's End was just about reduced to nothing but rubble and burnt houses. And look what it's become since - a thriving and rebuilt community full of great people like you, your Mum, and your family and friends. Don't worry, a bomb here or there is a frightening thing, of course, but even lots, lots, lots more than that didn't stop everyone around your area, and London in general, from being an inspiration to everyone else in England who were also suffering terrible attacks from the German Air Force.

Say this to yourself when you go to bed: "WE ARE NOT AFRAID", tuck yourself in, and sweet dreams.
