I've got my first visit to an acupuncturist later on this afternoon & I don't mind admitting I'm scared wittless :o

Oooo tell us how it goes. My Danish friend Anne had it for the first time this week and they left some odd shaped needles on her that are supposed to drop off over time :what:

In the early 90's I lost the full use of my right arm following an injury to my neck and underwent a number of major operations followed by a protracted course of physiotheraphy. For much of the time I was in great pain but was not prepared to accept the woolly and foggy feeling in my brain that the various prescribed painkillers induced. Acupuncture was suggested particularly to assist in the physiotherapy stage.

A natural cynic, I was surprised how completely painless the procedure was and the feeling of wellbeing it produced. Although over time the impact of each session began to diminish, the pain relief and easing of tension helped a great deal to enable me to push on with the range of exercises without being a zombie. My recovery was faster and more complete than that of most of the others I got to know with a similar problem.

For me the feeling of wellbeing was akin to that of having a high quality joint, so I'm told ;) ie a amazing clarity without the silliness and cravings that a joint can bring.

Strictly no prick jokes please...
Thats right lower the tone

It went very well, as TS said it was completely painless, I've been told that if after four treatments it hasn't improved that will be it! at the moment the only thing I can say for certain is that it made me feel very tired & I actually had quite a decent nights sleep, something I haven't had for a long time so even if thats the only benefit I think it was worth having it done, I haven't had an injury as such, after spending two years in pain I had an MRI last Oct to find that a disc in my neck has almost completely disintergrated & that I had a bone spur growing in the centre of the next vertabrae which is pushing into my spinal cord :( will need an op at sometime depending how quickly it carries on growing, I also only found out yesterday that I have Fybromyalgia which is causing the tiredness & muscle pain  never heard of that one so I will have to try & do some research on that today
