12:26 Grey Dawning was all the rage and market mover starting at 10/11 from 5/2 overnight. The Skelton comments were ultra bullish and they had him home and hosed. It looked like that, too, as he came to win the race coming into the last to go into a couple of lengths lead, but Man at Work wore him down in the straight and I’m not sure if he lacked at bit of steel or was just outstayed. Will reserve judgement, I think.

13:01 The perceptive (not me I’m afraid) would have noted that Remastered had a hurdle rating 10lbs lower than his chase rating. He won this with some ease and was not pushed to the line. I expect the handicapper will take a dim view of it, but Remastered looks to have plenty in hand to compensate.

14:11 Gesskille was a tad out of the handicap and had plenty to find with the winner. Instead of that he closed and closed and was ahead a stride after the line, but a nose behind at it with the rest miles behind. Hope the handicapper is not too harsh on him.

14:45 I had a full bet on Brewin’upastorm and snuggled up in my armchair to watch the race in eager anticipation. Reached out to pick up my gin and tonic, but the whole thing was finished before I had a sip. Full marks to me, though, for not spilling it or chucking the glass into the fireplace.

15:18 considering his mistake four out and the horlicks he made of the last Gunsight Ridge did well to win as he did and can be marked up a bit.

15:50 can’t pay too much attention to a runaway bumper win, but Elogio sure did it well.

So, that was the day, enjoyable despite the costly bet.
