I can see Nicky now, standing in front of the mirror, practising his look of surprise and amazement, and checking back to his video of his reactions after Sprinter Sacre did his impression of Lazarus, just to make sure he's got the look spot on.

I think we should get our heads together and see if we can anticipate the post-race interview script.

Cheltenham wouldn't be the same without him lining up his excuses, this is ground related, he's frightened of soft ground for the horse, he actually said, Chacun and Defi will be suited by soft, that Altior needs good for his turn of foot.

Track has missed the forecast rain, and it's already G/S in places on the Old Course........surely he isn't so worried about the ground, that he'd not run him?
 
There is another big belt coming through Tuesday night, if it hits he'll be lame...there's no way this man will run it if he thinks it will get beat.

He wasn't taking on Defi and Chacun two years ago...watch his most recent tv interview...he's concerned about the ground!

Testing ground ensured Altior missed the Matchbook Clarence House Chase at Ascot too.


There's another clue to his mindset in that interview also. He says the public would have hung him had he pulled Altior out of the match with Cyrname because of the ground. So here we are with the Hendo form of withdrawal insurance against any kind of crowd retribution should he do just that!

No it's not, sunny morning, 50% per cent chance of light rain early afternoon, possivly two or three hours of steady rain around tea time, that's all.

It sounds like he’s banged his splint bone and it’s flared slightly. Happens and the inflammation can go down as quickly as it appeared. Fingers crossed he will be there.

Yep. Absolute joke. Can guarantee if neither Defi or Chacun where in the race there’d be no ‘injury’
