As an alternative to smoking I like to suck on Altoids a mint made by Callard & Bowser in Bridgend. They used to be available at a local petrol station but I hadn't seen any for a few years until in Dallas I was able to pick up a few tins including some cinnamon ones.
Being easily led into addiction I have been searching newsagents in an effort to find some more without any luck. It dawned on me that the internet might be helpful and then I found that these humble mints are the stuff of folk-lore. People critically acclaim the adverts, collect the tins, use the tins in all sorts of Blue Peter type ways, and claim that having them on display (say on one's desk) indicates a willingness to engage in sexual acts.Well blow me! All I want is a mint ,especially a cinnamon or wintergreen one.

Try Googling Altoids, there is an insane amount about a humble old fashioned mint.It seems as though they are not widely sold here yet 8,000 tonnes are shipped to the US every year.

Monica Lewinsky records that she showed the then president a newspaper article that sung the praises of altoids as an enhancer of oral sex

Dipping in a menthol crystal solution will have the same effect :o

By sheer coincidence, I drove my wife's car today - it was nearest the end of the driveway :P - and lo and behold there is a tin of altoids in one of the storage bins.

Maybe she's been reading about Monica as well but it's not for my benefit :brows:

When I think about the concept of evolution, and the Hegelian notion that human society continues to progress to more and more rational forms, I am reminded of the Pantheism Conflict of 1785. Here we are, more than 200 years later, and our intellectuals have become obsessed, indeed embattled, about such figures as O.J. Simpson, Monica Lewinsky and Gary Condit. In 1785, surely a primitive time according to our sensibilities, Intellectual life was consumed instead with questions about immanence versus transcendence, free will versus determinism, reason versus sentimentalism. Obviously, we’ve evolved profoundly.

Who is/was Gary Condit ?

As for pantheism doesn't hold water . It is like deist thought - rationally they have reached the conclusion that the Gods of organised religion cannot exist so they replace them . Wordsworth was a pantheist when he was youngI think .

A member of the U.S. Congress since 1989, Condit gained notoriety after the disappearance of Chandra Levy. Levy, a former Bureau of Prisons intern, vanished in May of 2001; Condit, married and the father of two grown children, first called Levy a "good friend" but later told police he had been romantically involved with her. Police said that Condit was not a suspect in Levy's disappearance, but his involvement earned national headlines and comparisons to the the case of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

Pantheism is a belief that God is present in all of nature whereas deist belief in God is based upon reason alone rather than faith , the regularity of nature reason enough for many such thinkers.
These are to some beliefs , not ideas , theories or indeed facts and as such are absolute.Of course a belief can be changed but whilst it is held it holds more than water it actually directs.
