Only just finished here - the storms started at about 3.50 this morning and I must say it's been ages since we've had such a long lasting bout of thunder. Preesumably they're heading east and northwards for some of you lot to experience - enjoy! I've logged four power outages so far and one of my telephone lines is no more - it's a ex-line.....

Glad to say the new puppy, Lil The Pill, seemed not one whit bothered by it all - a relief because it's not good if gundogs are frightened of loud noises (!) and we had our morning walk in a downpour with quite a bit of lightening/thunder accompanying us and she just rolled along as usual. It does help that the others are pretty bomb-proof, of course!

The sky in sunny Berkshire has now gone black and I am off out to the bank! I best take my brolley! B)

 Sorry Songsheet, started another thread on exactly the same subject at the same time......weird!
pair of flashers??????if you ask me.....

but it awoke me @ 5 am and the torrential rain after a joyrider was doing the rounds, wheelies hand brake turns with no exhaust on either( a car I am talking about) @ 2-15 a.m. I hope I can get some kip later???? :angy:

Great minds, Dim!

You're right - it's just started up again here as well.... terrific lightning in the early hours - brilliant forked jobbies - very exciting!

I am miffed tho, as I was going to take a couple of pics of my really stunning rambling roses (to compete with Dim's - not :P ) which I planted about three years ago and which are going gangbusters everywhere but that rain has really flattened them and now there are petals on the ground everywhere. Bummer!

Not a cloud in the sky, absolutely red-hot, and across the road, there's a young couple a-swinging' in a hammock. We must be well into the 80s, and as there's no breeze today, it's gaspers.

So, please send your glorious storms round this evening - Brighton Council never sweeps the pavements, and they could do with a good wash-down!

I prefer sheet lightning - those deep purple, miles-wide ones, to fork. I always imagine I'm going to be zapped by the next prong.

One of my telephone lines is no more - it's a sex-line.....

Could you put up the number Julie.

Just had a classic quote from a colleague (we're looking for rain up Newcastle way, hence the interest) "It's got to Swindon now - that's up North, isn't it?"

2nd storm here now.... but not as bad as they have had elsewhere. Barney (resident office puppy) hasn't even realised it's thundering! I thought he would be all a quiver under my desk, but no, a large pigs ear in his gob (not still attached to the pig I hasten to add) and he is sitting there quite content! B)

 I was in Swindon this morning and I'm sorry to say that the roof in Tesco was leaking due to the rain  They're rebuilding the store and half of the shop is in a temporary building. There are electrical items out there, all the TV's were switched on and the roof was leaking next to them :o We made a hasty retreat before we got blown to kingdom come

Don't blame you, Griffin - it wouldn't take a lot for me to make a hasty retreat out of Swindon either!!!!!

Just started raining up here in the past hour or so but no storms yet, and its cooled down a bit now as well so its looking unlikely we'll get any. I quite like a bit of thunder and lightning as well.

Chucking it down here again Cracking storm from 6am until about 8 this morning and it is hammering the windows now.
