Very sad news. I have been following Christopher's progress ever since he broke his neck in a near fatal riding accident in 1995 in Virginia. It seems like it was only a couple of years ago, as it is all still so fresh in my mind. His books were an absolute inspiration and the progress he made during his recovery was equally as amazing. He was a great advocate for stem cell research and wanted to raise the awareness by lobbying congress for better insurance protections against catastrophic injury. He even managed to go back to film directing in 1998 despite being totally wheelchair bound and unable to breathe for long periods unassisted. He eventually gained some limited movement and sensation back in parts of his body, and he never really gave up hope that one day he would possibly even walk again.
R.I.P. Christopher Reeve. A totally amazing man, and an inspiration to so many. A real Super Man.
