Another historic race appears to have bitten the dust no sign of the Hyperion Stakes at this 2 day Ascot meeting -this meeting being an unwelcome and second rate creation as a result of Champions Day .

Perhaps it it is returning to the early October meeting but I won't hold my breath . They really have fucked Flat racing in this country over the last 25 years .

If anyone had asked me on which track the Hyperion was run, what grade it was and what famous horses had won it, I wouldn't have been able to come up with anything other than guesses.

I'm not convinced it's a particularly 'historic' race so I don't think it's that much of a loss.

Cowdenbeath ran in it like 40 years ago....Celich Swing won the race before he won the Racing Post but by that time it was already regarded as ordinary
they changes it a long time ago to a pretty insignificant fillies only conditions race......now they have probably changed it to a 7 mile chase for untried brood mares
