Any numismatists out there?

We're moving house tomorrow (at least the furniture is) and been very busy clearing stuff out.

Among the things we've found in the late mother-in-law's granny flat is a selection of old British coins and notes and I'm not sure what to do with them.

The notes include pound notes from the British Linen Bank, BoS, RBoS and Bank of England.

The coins are mainly older 10p/5p coins but there are a couple of two-shilling pieces as well.

There are also some Clydesdale Bank presentation coins commemorating the Silver Jubilee in 1977 but there is no face value written on them. They are about the size of an old five-shilling piece (a crown).

Any ideas or advice?

Ask your bank, some of them may still be legal tender.
Queens' Silver Jubilee, face value was /is 25p but if the ones you have are actual silver ....£800 I have seen for these.

This is a good site for coin valuation:

http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/values/index.html

Unless 'bright uncirculated' (BU) they're likely to be worthless, though if your two bob bits are pre-1947 they'll be worth at least £4 as they were 50% silver until then

Masses of coins and banknotes are sold on Ebay, so a browse there might be helpful

Drone: Still knocking it out the park on the 'insights vs visits' metric.
