One of you lot will no doubt be able to offer advice.
Our 7 year old widescreen TV 'blew' the other day. We've replaced it with an LCD model but wondered if we could salvage the old set for my Sister.
When you switch it on, the power light flickers and tweets consistently as if its trying to turn itself on, then realises it can't, then tries again. I wondered if it may be a fuse inside or something simple that won't cost the earth to repair?

Thanks

Mark

It may be that one of the cathode ray tubes inside has blown, if so they can be replaced but they are not cheap, might be better going to tesco and getting a cheap one instead

what make is it Mark? I had a similar fault with my HITACHI 32"*** they charged me £75 to repair that was collected and delivered back too... and what have you bought to replace it?
*** I had a £300 service agreement but the company POWERHOUSE WENT BUST hence me having to fork out again so no more service packages for me in future....

I am seriously considering buying a 40" SONY LCD been looking on line for best offers...... see £1200 to £1500 for this model came out in April this year......

It might just be a resistor, which wouldn't be too expensive. The symptoms sound similar to a problem an old telly of ours had but I'm a long way from being an expert.
