AS a member here I see my late brother was a member here.we lost touch and I just wanted to know what kind of guy he was.
I was searching for his posts with no luck and help going ?

TIA

I didn't know Alan, but there were some very moving and heartfelt tributes to him on TheRacingForum at the time of his death.

He was a lovely man and there are still a few of us on here who used to enjoy winding him up - especially over politics!

However, this forum has moved on and evolved considerably since then, so I doubt they'll be too many replies to your query.

A real gentleman and still sadly missed. You'll find very few if any bad words mentioned about him on here.

I joined just as he sadly departed but went to the very well attended memorial race at Lingfield where I first met a large motley contingent from here! I have yet to hear anyone utter anything other than complimentary about him.

I never posted on a forum where Alan posted but I did read them on occasisons..as a casual reader at that time I can remember the upset his death caused...he seemed an extremely well liked man

I had the greatest respect for our old mate Alan and along with my brother[The Cardiffian] attended the funeral and then the memorial race day @ Lingfield park along with his family and a large percentage of members from all over the country.

His ashes were scattered on the winning line and there were whimsical comments that it was the only winner apart from his beloved horse[PANTS] he ever had in his life...
He moderated on this forum and always had a knack of sorting things out with a few words in the said persons ear, that had any problems, he also appeared on ATR a few times...

I wrote this on hearing of his passing.......

Words I still find difficult to find to write, I am in great shock! Just like all those that new him, a wonderful guy who thought of others, never himself, although never enjoying the best of health! Although we never met we had a hell of a lot in common.

Our thoughts, and our outlooks on life, were pretty similar and we seen eye to eye on most things and this were expressed through p/m and email contact that we enjoyed also.

There’s a saying that only the good die young! Well ALAN you were one of the best mate.

I ever had the pleasure of contacting; we met through our common denominator! HORSES and I will miss you loads mate, and your banter I will also miss too, and he was one of the best moderators on Talking Horses always very fair, god you'll be missed my old mate. R.I.P.

To his family I would also like to convey my heartfelt condolences.

From your WELSH FRIEND/MATE John aka Ned aka Merlin the Magician.

'Moggie' was extremely witty, saw the ridiculous in much around him, and didn't take himself too seriously. If he'd taken his health a little more seriously, and gone to have his heart checked out as he had promised to do in the year he died, we might still all be the richer for his contributions. I met him on two or three occasions, once with his (I think younger) brother at Plumpton, another at Sandown. He was big fun, kindly, frequently misguided in his surefire bets, and is sadly missed by all who enjoyed his postings or had the pleasure of meeting him. His avatar was a pet cat, hence his nickname on the forum.
