I'm going there next weekend. Know nothing about the place at all, so happy to hear anything anyone has.
 
Let it remain a magical mystery tour for you, Homer. I went through Turkey eons ago and was wonderfully impressed, but swerved Ankara due to the route we were taking. Make sure you have coffee and dates in a suq (marketplace), buy a rug, get overcharged by a Turkish-smoking taxi driver, and spend a louche evening at a low dive watching chubby girls bellydancing. :luv:
 
I remember considering going to Turkey one night whilst listening to the Cranberries, but could never pluck up the courage.
 
Back from Ankara in one piece. Pleasantly surprised. People pretty friendly and the City quite westernised (though not sure that is a good thing). Nothing spectacular to see or do, but wouldn't put anyone off.
