For a while now I have been getting an Irish made apple juice, imaginatively branded "Irish Apple Juice", which is absolutely gorgeous, but got me thinking I could make nicer stuff myself without too much trouble.
A few years ago I got a juicer which I used about twice and has been gathering dust ever since. Anyhow I got eight to ten small apples and got nearly a pint of juice out of it. Encouraged by this I got twice as many apples the next time, that looked the same - although I'm not sure what type either were, small red ones - and ended up with less juice.
Is there a particular variety of apple that is best for making juice - preferably, not too sweet?
