After too many years of collapsed hardrives, cracked screens and laptops that fall apart ive had enough. Also sick of virus's (restores when in middle of working late into the evenin are not much fun)

Tried the Mac today at an apple store. Staggeringly fast and efficient and beautifully built. And no viruses ever ive been assured. The screen is beautiful

Arm and a leg but frankly is there any reason not to buy?

Perhaps numbers isnt as strong as excel (which i can keep on spare somp) but thats not a big issue for me

I am trying to find someone who has been disappointed. no one i know thats for sure

anyone here ?

I've never used a Mac, but Charlie Brooker swears they're only ever used by wankers and Chelsea fans. Which are you?

You get two goes. :D

Hmmm...

I think the biggest wankers are those that buy cheapo virus ridden junk built by monkeys with back up from a call centre staffed by robots who couldnt tell you waht day it was without looking at the cribsheet

Not easy running a business with a piece of kit like that...

ie me for past 4 years

Some small differences with a mac eg their is no right click. I tried one recently too and they are pretty nifty.

One fault is that they dont have HDMI connections. Possibly won't bother you but it did me

If it wasnt going on a new(er) car, then I was going to try to use some of my March bonus to go onto an Applemac (buy John Lewis help my bonus!).

Nothing but good reviews from those who use them althouh I am sure there are some downsides. Have an iPhone now so it would def help with that.

Cant think of any good reason NOT to buy one as opposed to finding reasons why not to buy stuff like Dell, Compaq, HP.

And you can buy MS Office for Apple too : )

Forgive my piercing logic, but wouldn't that make you a wanker?

:D

Buying the shit i have been in recent times....yes

Thanks BD and granger. Thats how i see it too. Im not blown away by gadgets as a rule but was today. Its a beautiful machine and incredibly fast. What really struck me was how safari opens pages in a blink. I swore that it opneed some pages before i had requested it to. Machine is psychic

I just have to think Christy Canyon

Every chance it will be from JL. A great institution with top class service. No store deserves my custom (such as it is ) more

I wouldnt buy a battery from Currys

Thank you on behalf of all us Partners :)

You have my undying love and gratitude - esp if you double it with Waitrose shopping?!

Good luck and let us know what you think (pardon the pun) after you get it.

I even have a waitrose card ...and use it all the time. :)

Not like most of the peasants here who scoff pink sausages in tins of beans from lidl

I agree that the latest Apple offerings are beautiful and am sorely tempted. However having taken so long to get my PC skills to a decent level I am a little concerned that I may have to re-learn too much.

Maybe irrational but a big risk for me.

Finally got it and although the lack of right click gets a bit of getting used to, the machine is absolutely superb

I upgraded my Macbook from OS X Tiger to Snow Leopard this week and am very impressed with the enhancements in usability. Just little tweeks to Finder etc. have moved in even further ahead of Windows experience.

i think i have snow leopard Betsmate. I am dazzled by this machine. Its like a different world

I am not totally au fait with all the rivals in the market but aside from all the usual factors, it is the quality of the build that sets this machine miles apart from the rest. A look at the sony Vaios for instance left me very unimpressed. Given that many of us are a bit clumsy and prone to breaking this and that, they really have stolen a march on their rivals with that alone

I'd like a Bengal cat, but they cost as much as an Apple Mac Pro. So I'll have to make do with my old moggies and bottom-of-the-range Compaq.

Cheers Betsmate and Simon. Picking it up nicely

About 13 years ago I sold my old Astra and bought a year old Saab Convertible. Was like moving from a travelodge to the Dorchester

This is what this feels like. I suppose the convincing factor (apart from being a superior machine in every way) was the quizzical look i got from a couple of users i know when i suggested that their Apples must be on their last legs after 5 years

And im still driving my Saab...
