Are You Paraskevidekatriaphobic ?

A chap I used to work with always booked a day's leave on days such as today.

My mother, bless her, had a whole thesaurus of superstitions. I always put it down to her Irish ancestors, I'm not sure if people in Ireland are more superstitious than average but that is the image that I have, rightly or wrongly, apologies for the generalisation and what may be a totally erroneous feeling. :shy:

Never change your selection.

Always use your lucky pen to write out betting slips until such time as it has "used up" it's luckiness. At this time, discard it and grab another tiny little red writer.

When losing, your luck has to change soon.
When winning, keep going while you're on a roll.

I'm not superstitious myself, but in days now long past, whilst spending the afternoon in the austere surroundings of a betting office, I have found the compulsion to change pens.

Got a coupon on the back of my shopping receipt in Tesco last night - 2 quarter pounders for the price of one. Went in to get them for my lunch and was told the coupon expired on 1st October. Disaster. It could only happen on Friday 13th.

:o Friday the 13th or any thing to do with (13) in as always been lucky for me....touch wood :P

I put my two lotto sets of numbers on today, one set for the Euro lotto £50 million in the kitty and one for the Saturday lotto draw £20 million.... lets hope one of them comes to fruition?

On the way back I saw two magpies on the roof to the back of my house is that synonymous with anything????????????

Yes, Merls:

One for sorrow,
Two for joy;
Three for a girl, and
Four for a boy.

So, best of luck with the lotteries! You've got my address, haven't you? :D

The only real superstitions I have are to do with cricket and getting changed in a particular order.

I didn't dream last night anyway!!

Interestingly, my colleague at work has the option the buy this horse when he goes over timber. He has made hay over the last month but feels the price has gone up substantially!!

He has shares in 10 horses and breeds too. He founded the Out of the Frying Pan partnership (he teaches Food Technology). Teaching is in his words "just pin money."
