Day 3:

FRENCH DUKE
Thursday, King George 6th

You have to assume the new kids on the block had done their homework very well before they started splashing the cash (and what a splash) and they were probably expecting more from this one. I thought he actually ran a better race than his finishing position would suggest. He was hampered after three furlongs which knocked him off balance for a bit and then had to contend with racing on the wide outside. Nonetheless, Buick got him in the right position to challenge, but didn’t press him too hard when he wasn’t finding much.

KING’S GAMBIT
Thursday, Hampton Court 2nd

Everyone and their mother’s uncle will have this one going into their notebook. The trainer summed it up:

It looked like a disaster from furlong one - we were in the worst possible position on this round course, and King's Gambit has run monstrously well to get anywhere near them. You can see how good he is, and we'll enjoy him down the line - Harry Charlton, trainer.

CARRYTHEONE

Thursday, Buckingham Palace 3rd

Came from well off the pace and looking for a run from two furlongs out. Didn’t get it until half a furlong left and then finished like an express train, but too late.

I agree with kings gambit and carrytheone.
Re the latter. Billyjoh was as eye catching as carrytheone and there has to be scope with him over 7f+
This was his first go over more than 6 (no surprise looking at the pedigree) but he relished it and interestingly Kodiac is also the damsire of Charyn who should also be a sprinter really.

Native Warrior Britannia. Won his race on the nearside. Obvious tracker horse.
