On average how many days do you drink at home and in what quantities?

I love a drink but rarely if ever at home (since my college days!) unless I am heading out later on that evening for a few more.

Also, in times of stress or when your upset....do you crave/really need a drink?

This is not a survey or anything but just interested in it. Was over with some relatives a while back in Manchester - and it seemed a much more common occurance there with them and their friends than my family or friends.

I usually get through 4-6 cans of good lager over Friday and Saturday nights and my share of a bottle of wine in that time. Very occasionally, I'll have a glass of wine if I'm watching a DVD midweek.

If there's a big football match or tournament on (Celtic in Europe / the Euros / World Cup) I might have a can each half if I can watch the game at home. If I need to go to the pub I drive so only drink orange juice.

I still think I probably drink a wee bit too much though. I had probably more than a bottle of wine the other night - people just kept re-filling my glass - but prefaced it with an orange juice and once we left the restaurant to go to the pub I stuck to orange juice and water as a colleague was putting me up for the night and I respect him too much to embarrass myself or him with drunken behaviour.

I have a few with my mates if we´re going out - probably too many in fairness and it´s generally a mix of different things. Since moving to Spain I only drink at home when my girlfriend is over and even then it´s not heavy drinking.

I will usually have three g & t's in an evening when at the girlfriends.

G & T - good choice!

I rarely drink at home these days although maybe the occasional glass of wine but that might be once a month or even once every two months, just depends really. Having said that, I went out unexpectedly on Wednesday and think I probably had my weekly unit allowance then so no more alcohol for me for a while :p

As Mrs DG doesn't drive I very rarely drink, always driving for one reason or another early next morning. The cabinet in our lounge is stuffed full with bottles received from various Companies over the years which we have kept so we can be hospitable to visitors but even they usually prefer a soft drink or tea / coffee.

Prefer orange juice, occasionally a St Clements (oj with bitter lemon). Get bored with taste of most alcoholic drinks.

At home I only have a few drinks at Christmas, usually when all the cooking/prepping has been done on Christmas Eve and I'm cosying down.

When staying with friends the booze flows like water, but after half a glass I stick to juice.

What a cheap date! :D

After spending years detesting the taste of G&T, I recently discovered Hendricks Gin, and now imbibe this once I'm too bagged-up on the pints.

Mrs Grass and I will often share a bottle of wine over dinner - it's good for what ails you.

My belief is that alcohol is the 'working man's poison' and should be invibed at special events not as a regular pastime.

A list of special events might include cricket matches, Sunday lunches, family gatherings, race meetings, footy matches, club events ..... I'm doomed.

(Truthfully, I am very critical of the availability alcohol) - MR2

In stressful situations I tend to just smoke more.

Don`t drink much, had a Wild Turkey on the rocks as I watched Withnail and I yesterday evening but that was my first drink in about six weeks.

I tend to have a glass of red wine with events at home.

Events include meals, getting in from work, running out of coffee...

I don't drink much these days as I cannot handle the hangovers.I have been known to have a couple of bottles of heineken to unwind after a marathon session on betfair.

I very rarely drink anything really now have still got guinness and beer-lager from last xmas in the fridge.....besides shorts....

But I tell you what last week while in Tesco, I only called in to buy bell battery, but they had CARLING EXPORT 18 bottles for a fiver so I bought 4 boxes for xmas...........

Jaysus Gal, I was getting worried about you there for a second when I read the thread title! :D

It's certainly more common in Yorkshire to have a few drinks before a night than it was in Ireland.
