A chumette of mine is planning to spend a few nights in St Austell, and would like to stay somewhere cheapish and cheerful. (Not a ***** hotel.) If anyone can recommend any local B&Bs or inns, please could you let me know, so I can pass the info onto her? Thanks in advance to any sons or daughters of Kernow... ;)

On the other coast to me Jon, albeit only an hour away. The problem with St Austell and spare accommodation is its proximity to the Eden Project as well as a College in town. Your friends might be better looking for somewhere just out of town, somewhere like Par,Charlestown,Sticker, Probus or Victoria (Roche). A search on Google would be as good as anything I could suggest.

Cheers, DG - it's the Eden Project she's off to view, in fact. She has a conkpewter so I'll suggest she does her own Googling.

In that case Bodmin is an option as it is only 15 mins from Eden which is the Bodmin side of St Austell. There's a travel inn (travelodge?) beside Asda as you come off the A30 for Bodmin with a nice pub next door. Alternatively Lanivet is a nice little village between Bodmin and St Austell.
