With so many online bookmakers springing up, are there any that you would recommend steering clear of re payouts, bad practices etc?

I don't go into their shops unless it's absolutely necessary.

I don't understand this rationale. Money has no conscious and nor should you when you're trying to win money betting. Abstaining from a bookmaker for any other reason then them not accepting your bets will cost you money.

If you have accounts with 365 and Stan James then you don't really need any others. Corals and Hills might come in handy depending on what you bet on.

Paddy Power, of course, is not a "scam" bookie by any means. That is just ridiculous. I'm sorry, Luke, for plain speaking, but that is the truth of it.

Harry, for a list of true bad/scam bookies go to SBR and click on "Black List".

Tongue in cheek comment from me- I find Powers incredibly difficult to beat and avoid their offices unless. I am told about a particular special.

I would have avoided Ladbrokes like the plague up to a few years ago but their shop specials at the moment are bordering on insane.Last week money back if second to Sprinter Sacre while going bigger then the lay price on Betfair for 3 of the horses in opposition.
Mind you one of their specials last week was completely taking the pish -even money Vatour to win by 30 lengths or more-I know it came up but anyone who took that price needs their head examined.

Most aren't really Bookmakers anymore. They're Accountants playing the exchanges. Regarding EP's, I'd say 365 were the fairest, followed by SJ (who open late), the rest are a joke in that regard, especially PP for such a large firm (waste of time logging in) and also VC (or BV as it is now) since the takeover, Ladbrokes, Hill, Corals and Betfred right behind them.

I've read bad things regarding 888 somewhere. Peter Lord and Graheme White (Directors of Canbet) are planning on doing the same scam again, so keep an eye out and stay well clear, indeed spread the word ASAP once they're up and running.

Got to laugh at this (and agree). I must confess, I too have heard people sticking their chests out and telling the world how successful they are at punting. The strange thing is, I've heard the same people vowing to take their business elsewhere when they've encountered bad service or a dispute. The two don't add up. Bookmaking is an exception to the normal laws of consumer sovereignty due to the nature of the transaction. If you want to protest a corporate behaviour you don't withdraw your custom (unless you're really losing but telling everyone you're winning) surely you make a point of placing your bets with the firm you most disapprove of.

I had an incident with a well known firm beginning with the letter 'L', corporate colour red, who wouldn't me out. I stopped placing my casual bets with them and lined up my better ones on them when they were at least the same price as the high street. Taught me a lesson actually. The upshot is that I won a lot more back off them than they refused to pay out, the highlight being an early 20/1 on Reverance to win the Nunthorpe before it rained on the Wednesday and he went 4's

If Orchid reads this......

He's in the process of trying to blame someone else at the moment using that old line "someone else told me to do it".

There'd actually be a fair chance if you could be bothered to go through the archive Marb (and I certainly can't), that it wasn't an after timed selection anyway as I certainly remember shouting it from the roof tops, just not sure whether it was on here - could have been, but I'm not 100% certain.

I think it was on Neigh, I certainly remember you posting it on that forum, not that I care to remember much else from my semi-psychotic days on there.

The forums miss a speed anaylist of your calibre Warbler, why don't you take it easy for the next few months until after the next election, and instead give us some breakdowns for Cheltenham on your own speed analysis?

Not bloody likely - you'd have to be mad to share any in depth analysis with Talking Horses. 45% of the forum moan if a post extends to more than two paragraphs and the other 45% moan if it's on a subject they have no interest in, or knowledge of. In any event I've never really updated my methods, but the bottom line is that I'd rather remove my own gall bladder with an oyster fork then re-engage with any meaningful horse racing chat here.

Why not preview a race like The Triumph, I think the preview-a-race thing still happens on here every festival.

Owner Simon Munir has a couple on likely candidates in there doesn't he? Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

I left open the possibility that 10% might find something interesting quite deliberately.
