Is this a horse that's fallen out of love completely .... or is there some kind of big price plot being put together?

Sent off today at 20/1 in a handicap hurdle, the horse duly obliged (and came 20th) from a hurdles mark some 20Ibs lower than his chase mark. It's his fourth run this season, all of which have been pretty grim. Only as recently as last March though he was deemed good enough to line up in the Champion Chase, and with Simonsig not present, duly represented the Arkle form from the previous year

I'd guess he's gone at the game but I might ask s few people's opinion and get back to you.

At 20/1 there was clearly no expectation, but a horse with his recentish form should be making light work of a hurdles mark of 129!!! or might still do yet if he mysteriously comes back to love the game for the County Hurdle or Coral Cup (actually, he'd be hard pressed to get in the latter, and borderline for the former)

It could be that Slim's right and he's finished with the game, For an 8yr old he isn't exactly lightly raced considering the company he has kept.

Could also be an undetected injury or some other ailment that a small operation puts right and hey presto, you suddenly have a ridiculously well handicapped horse

He only ran in the Durkan as recently as last week

I don't know if its the number of races that leaves it's mark so much as the intensity of them, and a lot of these have been relatively small fields and a modest pace

It's one to keep an eye on

You want a horse lightly race potentially chucked in on old form with a trainer capable of a stroke. Say. . . Balgarry for example.

terrible fall along with Rathlin last week. Horse reportedly had a hole in him early on as a novice - not one for pressure reportedly, and a good ground horse. Uncompetitive races where his jumping carried him through, and Mouse Morris's knack to have horses outrun themselves at Cheltenham got him placed in the Arkle. (His Excellency was in third - not much strength in depth in that race)

Would be surprised if he wins over hurdles, regardless of mark.

He has had a wind problem for years; got on a roll in 2012 when his confidence was sky high and Mouse kept him sweet through to Cheltenham .
Like a lot of horses he had one real good season but his luck has fallen out.He needs better ground and a handicap drop will help.

His novice season was exceptionally busy and as Slim said he was literally on the go for a full 12 or 14 months.Hard to see him winning anytime soon.
