Incidentally which forumites smoke and which don't.

I'll start the bidding as a non smoker

Well,i gave up a month ago but have had the odd sneaky one since. Also i work with an Asian fella who has just come back from India and he`s got me some Bennies(i think there called)just a tabacco leaf rolled up and tied with some string. So i`m taking them to the festival tomorrow.

I would like to try just one cigarette in my lifetime, just to experience the feel of smoking, but just the one.

Non smoker - about the only time I did smoke was when I was caught in a pub (at the age of 14) with a bunch of mates, a vodka & orange & virtually the only cigarette I've had in my life - by my bloody parents!!!!!

Best way to give up smoking - move to Gibraltar where you pay around 80p - £1.20 for a pack of 20, get used to it, then move back to the UK whre you have to pay £5+ for the same pack - job done!!!! :D

Tried it once when first at Uni when b/friend was taking his driving test in my car (he passed) but hated it.

Had a mother who was badly asthmatic (as were my elder bro and sis) and she smoked until I was about 4 or 5 - I can just remember her doing so. She gave up ciggies, as did my Dad at the same time, although he did have the odd cigar and puffed away on his pipe. Funny how I still like the smell of a good cigar but hate cigarette smoke.

Asthma inherited by my son, who so far doesn't smoke and again, he saw my mother suffering from asthma/aspergulosis when he was little, so put him off big time....

Just can't see the attraction of smoking, luckily!

I actually did smoke for 7 years. I gave up when I returned from France (£1.20 per pack) and found that the increased price (£4.50) made a large hole in my student budget. In a straight choice between smoking and eating, food won the day!!!

Everything is bad for you. I gave up smoking 18 months ago and since then have piled on the pounds to compensate.

Anyway, I just wanted an excuse to post this line from Billy Connolly.

When people say "life is short". What the f**k?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever f**king does!! What can you do that's longer?

Not at all relevent but still funny.
