Nominations please?, but having given the correct answer tonight a former pro footballer spluttered into his beer, before saying "yes" followed by "how the hell did you know about that band, the 'brains' behind them is my cousin"..... I proceded to regale albums and tracks, but then again, I had a Debbie experience!!! Only to say hello, but males of my generation will know what that means?

Warbler isn't after any reaction.

Because he knows best!!!

New Order = good

They are musically and equally lyrically speaking, brilliant!!! (better than Barney, hookey and Gillian et al) And I dare say, some of you might spring a few minority bands on me :D Bring them on!!! B-Movies "remembrance days" single not the album track would half qualify them, as would "No Where girl" - by the same band

But they weren't the answers I was after.... Think Liverpool with the first, the second nominee was a London band who are more famous (well relatively)

Best synth band of the 80's, is the same as in the 70's, 90's and Naughties.

The undisputed masters of the art are Kraftwerk.

They're still showing every other synth band how it should be done, and they're pushing 90.

I'm sure Whigfield would have done an excellent synth if they were around in the eighties. I am led to believe they are a very good band.

Not sure about the best Synth band but Kid Creole and the Coconuts are playing at Ascot tomorrow night.:D I can't believe I saw them play at a local club in High Wycombe nearly 30 years ago!!!

Err... OMD? Nah...

Quite right. No.

Liverpool produced a whole host bands at about that time, Teardrop Explodes, Echo, China Crisis, Orange Juice?, OMD.

In fairness, although the band I had in mind were initially supposed to be part of the synth movement, and were broadly bracketed as new romantic I doubt many would recognise them as such, and upon reflection I wouldn't like to defend the idea that they were as they became more of a rock band and their original pretence to be a synth band was tenuous I suppose.

Anyway, I'm off to watch the cricket down the pub and will set about the juke box in some desperate attempt to reprogramme it with Warblers songs instead of some of the drivel currently infesting it.

I thought of Tears For Fears too, raceylady, but they are from Bath - not Liverpool.

Not my type of music at all. Memories of the dreary Ultravox (for one) come flooding back

But one exception....

Pet Shop boys

Great act. Superb singles that were both sharp and atmospheric. What have i done to deserve this with Dusty is an absolute gem. Opportunities too and Love comes quikcly. Heart as well. Brings back some memories

Funnily enough West end boys was one of the few tracks of theirs that left me a bit cold
