Bet365 policy change?

Following a recent exchange of email between myself & Bet365, i am informed that they do not alert clients that they are eligible for free bets on C4 races under the 4/1 price stipulation.

This is news to me as I have received such a message almost 100% of the time I've qualified. It would maybe be 100% if I was actually aware that I did qualify.

I reckon I do about 80% of my online betting with them but I've had the impression for some time that they are quite happy to let some of their 'offers' slide off the table, only honouring them if you actually challenge them. This would go some way to explaining why I no longer do about 90% of my online business with them.

I can see that figure more than halving in the months to come.

Ho hum...

Ha you want to see recent emails between me and Ladbrokes concerning a bonus, just lies lies lies from them

You want an email to inform you to place your free bet in the next televised race which is usually scheduled just 15 minutes later after the +4/1 bet won ?????

TBH, I don't think it would be practical or maybe even possible for Bet365 to send out emails to every winning client in time for the next race .................. and I'm not sure if they ever did so. (I do know that they send a reminder if the "bonus" race is the following day or the next day on which there is Ch4 racing; i.e. if the qualifying +4/1 race was the final televised race of the day).).

Could just be stupidity on their part-having non specialist customer service staff dealing with betting queries is incredibly frustrating.

The 365 offer is excellent-I would have to agree with Icebreaker it's the punters responsibility to make sure the bonus is claimed. The customer service department at 365 are incredibly fair.

I've used Bet365 for several years now and have never had an email confirming I'm eligible for a free bet under their 4/1+ offer. Sure I've missed out a few times but I take that on the chin. As for being quite happy to let offers slide I reckon all bookies do that with expiry dates for free bets. Some do offer free bets but "forget" to credit them until chased.

But this isn't a change in policy

I know this isn't about 365 but I can't be bothered looking for a thread about betting restrictions.Recently I became very comfortable with horse racing match betting with a leading Irish independent bookmaker. On the day before the Arc I had two bets -a winning match bet and a snide each way -walked out with a little over 500 in profit bringing my profit in that shop to about 1200 over 4 months and maybe 7 or 8 visits.Came back the next day and I was told my bets were restricted to €100 per race with match bets. When the manager told me I could only have a ton every head in the place turned around to look at me.

This isn't the point I'm making.

Usually during a C4 televised meeting I know whether I'm entitled to a free bet or not but even so my experience is that unless the gap before the next race is very short, there is an alert in the messaging service at B365 - the best online bookie by far - titled 'Your Free Bet Awaits', with the message itself saying, 'Congratulations on selecting xxxx ... etc. You now qualify for a free bet to £xxx on the [next race],' followed by the usual screed about the c4 offer.

If I've missed such a bet, there's usually a message titled, 'Did you know?', telling me about the offer, waiting for me the next time I go in.

In this instance, the winning bet was in the last televised race on Saturday so they have had several days in which to send what I would regard as the usual alert ahead of today's televised card. It was because I hadn't received it that I wanted to verify that my last bet did qualify. I wasn't sure if I'd sneaked an each-way outsider before the main bet which would have meant i didn't qualify. They have confirmed that I have a free bet waiting.

My point is that based on my very positive experience in my dealings with B365 I was expecting an alert. They are saying the don't do that. They didn't add 'any more'. This looks like a change in policy to me. Now that I know that, I can decide with whom and when to bet. My concern is that the decision - assuming that's what it is - not to send alerts any more is the thin edge of the wedge and may signal the beginning of the end of the offers, hence my saying I can see the percentage of my bets with them reducing considerably in the future.

At the end of the day, it isn't that big a deal and as my dotage creeps up on me I'm getting less satisfaction out of studying the form and watching the racing. I anticipate that I will have given up on racing altogether within the next few years. It's maybe just something I'm finally getting out of my system.

This is good for the soul, and lets the herd know the pecking-order.

Psychologically it was good-one of the guys who was there was having monkey bets in the mid 80's.Unfortunately my experience of being restricted in General is that it can go to your head.

Fair enough. I misunderstood, then.
But you didn't specify this in the opening post; it was reasonable to assume that you were referring to all +4/1 winning bets.

Fair reply. I'd assumed the timing of the post and the fact there was no racing on C4 since Saturday spoke for itself. I wouldn't look at my account in the interim as I don't bet on midweek dross. I went into my account yesterday to confirm that I needed to look at the opener on TV today.

To balance things out a bit re Bet365, and bearing in mind that I have stated they are my bookmaker of choice, they did me a wee turn today. I was distracted while making a bet in a later race and only realised immediately upon clicking on 'place bet' that I'd selected the wrong horse. I phoned them up straight away and they accepted the extenuating circumstances and cancelled the bet, enabling me to make the correct bet.

Oh, and there was a message in my account this morning titled 'Your risk free bet awaits'...

You're allowing yourself become a victim of F.U.D.
Even if they did abandon the promotion (which they won't -- they've been running it since the Stone Age), then there are alternatives out there. Ladbrokes run the exact same offer (via their App or via m.ladbrokes.com ). The Hills Ch4 offer is even better again, but I appreciate that is a personal preference.

I've never heard of the WH C4 offer. What is it? I don't see anything about it on their website. Is it a mobile-only offer? (In which case it's no use to me. I don't use my mobile for anything other than contacting the family - I only spend about £10 a year on PAYG.)

Hills: "Money back if your selection finishes 2nd on all Ch4 races"
(Anyone considering having a bet on the Fav in today's Newm 2:55 must surely do it with Hills).
But yes, it is via mobile site or via App only. Not for Luddites, or folks like Maurice who still use brick phones from the Neolithic Age. :)

Upgrade, me ol' mucker ! It's time to move into the 21st century. And all the bookie offers you will have opened to you will pay your monthly bill and much more.
I notice Hills money back on second place came good with the Fav Strath Burn in the 2:25 just now. :)

And Paddy has a new promo today on PPMessenger. He's enhancing the odds on a particular horse in each Ch4 race. The 2:25 enhancement was Strath Burn to 7.0. Betfair at 6.0. Arb Heaven.
So, Upgrade man. Upgrade !
