The Betfair forum has finally been overhauled. It cannot hold a candle to the downright moronic comments that are posted in the new Racing Post 'comments' feature at the bottom of each news article. If you need cheering up, have a look at the comments posted after an article - they're hilarious, you'll laugh yourself silly whilst asking yourself "do these idiots really believe what they are saying themselves or are they on the wind-up?" :ninja:

A sample from the article containing the utter non-story (a RP speciality nowadays)* that Nicholls thinks that Denman will have to come on if he is to be competitive in this year's Gold Cup :

* similar to the "story" that A P McCoy will ride Calgary Bay "if he's available...."

Comments

No point speculating on Thisthanantother about denman!
Nicholls has not put anyone away with any comments so far... so no reason to think anythin other than wat he`s said is honest!
As for anythin else.......lets see who turns up and ground conditions!!

There is only gna be two horses at the finish Kauto n Denman. Fair enough u can say Denman didnt really impress on his return but neither did Kauto and he went on to win the King George. U can get Denman at 5's thts a steal after last years performance.

It is a testament to Kautos class that he won a Gold Cup despite having a preference for Kempton, Neptune has not beaten much in his Irish Grade 1s. Not sure what to make of the comments on Denman though. For me it is race to enjoy rather bet in !

Absolutely mickc90, I'm a big fan of both horses but the way people got on after last years GC you would have thought Denman had the sort of record against Kauto that Kauto has versus Exotic Dancer! Regardless of GC result, Kautos longevity is incredible.

i agree with u rewallis some of these people need their heads checked.voltigeur albertas run has had another run since kauto left him for dead so hes hardly lightly raced.people stop telling lies and talking bull....

Paul Nicholls has actually stated above that Denman has come on "enormously for the run". That is a very strong word to use !

The rest of the comments are to just doubt the punters, mark my words he wil be back at cheltenham !

memo to those so bullish about backing exotic dancer, how many times have him and kauto star met,not exactly sure how many times myself but what i do know is theres a big fat zero beside exotic dancers name and that will never change, kauto is far too good

I absolutley agree with the last comment, which makes me think .

His losing run dont forget was his first race of the season and i dont think they done alot of work with him prior to the race as they are giving him plenty of time to recover from the op.

i cant understand why so many people fancy neptune collonges to win a gold cup, when did he ever win a decent race in england??eh never because hes over here beating up nothing and as for exotic dancer he runs more bad races than good ones, kauto for gold!!

What is with all these mad, no-chance Gold Cup "tips"? I'd love to see Denman able to run, but doubt we'll ever see him at his best again. It's either Kauto Star or Neptune Collonges, as for Imperial Commander, I'd take health check if I backed him.

You need a lightly raced horse to win the Gold Cup that is at peak fitness. None of the Nicholls runners qualify. I have Albertas Run e/w but wouldn't quibble with someone backing Imperial Commander.

do not overlook Snoppy Loppy, he has run one poor race (he was knocked about in King George), I know the trainer is no mug and fancies him e.w.

If Madison Du Berlais hadn't run in the Betfair Chase, Denman would have won by a hard held 15 lengths from the King George second and be 2-1 on for the Gold Cup. Having said that I think Neptune Collonges will overhaul Kauto Star on the Cheltenham hill.

Think Barbers Shop could win the Gold Cup now got 33's. Kauto Star is clearly Nicholls favourite over Denman as all he seems to do is talk Denman down. Last year's gold cup - all Nicholls did was give excuses about Kauto. Denman should have run earlier!

Denman is my favourite horse and I do not want him to run in the gold cup, purely because 'a nice race' means that they will not knock it about and that is cheating the punters. Should have left in the Grand National as it would have been ready!

I have to say that having read the initial post on here I was extremely saddened. It would seem that our fine language is being lost.

In my honest opinion i dont think Denman will run the gold cup, we have 2 horses at Pauls yard and the groom to denman told my father that denman is still 20kg heavyer than last year and they struggle to get him race fit at home

mr nicholls i admire ur genius but if all u think denman is going to run is 'a nice race' and aint going to be quite ready then why dont u give the horse the summer off. why ruin the horse jst to put £ in ur pocket. it aint like u aint got no more runner

(has anyone worked out yet the identity of the dark horse Snoppy Loppy?? It's got me knackered!!!)

In fairness, I've read worse.......I'm sure in their own circles, they post comments about the thread on another forum where someone described Darkness as a Gold Cup horse. Or that Brad is innocent! Where would you get that?!?!

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! Bloody irritating addition. The amazing and funny thing is that some of the daftest comments are made with such authority!

Finding myself flipping between RP and SL sites to get information and full quotes on races and prospects from trainers. Sod all being given away in the RP articles and post-race comments don't appear in the horse profiles until days later. It seems that their new format requires frequent postings with less content.

Probably in the same place in which someone with green blinkers on pops out from the undergrowth every year to state that Harchibald will win the Champion Hurdle, amongst other authoritative and rude crap, Bobbyjo.

My favourites were the dismissal of Our Vic as "just a handicapper" (even after he had won a Grade 1) and the belief that Cornish Rebel would have won The Gold Cup, but for a mistake by Joe Tizzard.

Come on, Shads. When it comes to posting sh*te on internet forums, you are among the most prolific!

A shame you have to make up stuff I said Shadow! I've always insisted that Harchibald is a fine each way bet for the Champion Hurdle, on good ground and believe him to be so. But never let that get in the way of a good riposte...

All together now..

"Some people stand in the Darkness...

Well there's one thing for sure: Only on this forum could a thread started to take the piss out of another 'forum' (used loosely!) degenerate into a slanging match between members of this forum.

The irony of it all...

Much the same as you choose to leave out a lot of other things said Bobbyjo - please do put up a horse for the RSA before it's jumped a fence in public, in the autumn before Cheltenham when it is available at 33/1+, which goes off around 5/1 and comes 3rd.

But no, you prefer to carp and bitch instead - only time you crawl out from under your stone is to post some condescending derogatory crap directed at other people.

Ah she's fine.....necessary emissions

We'd all love credit for our long term selections. I put up Denman before he was born, but nobody remembers. I get over it though. Anyone for a hug?!

I thought she said he preferred the Carp and Bitch which I believe is the pub in Listowel where the plot to kidnap Shergar was hatched.

Poor old Shergar. I still wonder to this day what happened to that dear boy...

The Independent (I think) ran a story on it - you can probably find it on google or by searching on TH as i'm sure we've discussed it in the past. Be warned that it's very graphic.
