Big Boy - RIP

Big Boy, the alligator who starred in Live and Let Die died peacefully this week at his home in Beaver Water World, Kent.

He truly was a great alligator.

Coming back to the question of whether animals have souls, by pure coincidence when I was doing the readings at Mass the other week the passage mentioned "all the animals and birds of Heaven". It doesn't answer the question of whether they have a soul but it definitely rules in their existence in Heaven.

It doesn't say which animals were there. "All the birds and animals of Heaven" could mean "as opposed to all the birds and animals of Hell (and Ian Paisley)".

I figured out when I was a kid that if God made millions of creatures He WASN'T taking to Heaven, I wasn't going, either. Can you imagine the Life Hereafter bereft of the song of birds, the beauty of butterflies, gambolling lambs, cute ponies and puppies, the exquisite flights of dragonflies, and the occasional Holy Cowpat? It doesn't make life worth living if you're going to die and go to somewhere like that.
