Black Harry Out For Season

Disappointing alright, he looked a lovely prospect.

At least the novice division over here is so full of potential stars at least we have others to enjoy in his absence.

REVEILLEZ will be out of action this season after sustaining a leg injury but connections are hoping the Cheltenham Festival winner will be back after a year off.

The eight-year-old grey was at his most impressive in the Betfair.com Handicap Chase at the Grand National meeting at Aintree last April when stepped up to an extended 3m for the first time.

He put in another solid effort on his final start in the Betfred Gold Cup at Sandown later that month when a three-length runner-up to Hot Weld.

Frank Berry, racing manager to JP McManus, said: “Unfortunately, Reveillez is out for the season as he has a leg problem but, all being well, he will be back.

“He has been a very lucky horse for us and he will be taken back to the owner's stud and be given a long rest.”

Jazz D'Estruval out for the season - broke down last week. He'll likely be nearly 12 by the time he comes back and sadly we won't get to see one of the best prospects in a long time :(

Awful - but at least they still have a horse... tho as you say he'll prob never race again

Racing is so tough. A filly from the yard I'm most involved in finally went back into full training in the last month after 20 months off with tendon problems. She broke her pelvis on the gallops last weekend, and although the fracture wasn't major, she managed to sever an artery and had to be put down. Feel so sorry for the owner, after all that patience, and the vet's bills

Fingers crossed Rule Supreme has made a full recovery - likewise Trabolgan and Red Devil Robert, two I'm longing to see again - both casualties of the 2005 Hennessy. Talking of comebacks, great to see Mr Mcgoldrick enjoying himself thrashing the youngsters at Uttoxeter today!

They said in the RP stable tour they want him back next season but he'll never be the horse I saw canter all over Trabolgan at Haydock. He was destined to be a star with cut in the ground (and I mean real cut).

Mr McGoldrick - one of my favourites of all time since I saw him at Bangor as a novice hurdler :)

That is terrible luck to have HS particularly after so long :(

Yes, grim isn't it - tho in fact on checking she'd 'only' been off since June 06 - seemed longer.
She wasn't much good on the flat, but still...

Jazz d'Estruval had already had a year off I see with a leg, when he beat Trabolgan in heavy ground by 9 lengths. One of those 'if only' horses, sad for connections - and for the North. It's good when they have a top class chaser up there

Liked Nicky Richards' stable tour in the Post today btw - he talks very engagingly about his charges

Trabolgan may miss season after injury setback

by Rodney Masters

TRABOLGAN, who has not raced since winning the Hennessy Gold Cup in 2005, has met with another setback which may lead to him missing this season's campaign.

A routine scan on his legs showed a shadow on the off-fore tendon, and the situation is being monitored at Nicky Henderson's yard in Lambourn by the trainer's vet.

Henderson said: “I was anxious to let everyone know as soon as possible because of the imminent closing date to the Ten to Follow competition.”

Darkness out for another season, more & more of the staying chasers seem to be picking up niggly little problems.
