BBC comedy Blackadder will return for its fifth series next year.

Seventeen years after the emotional climax of 1989's Blackadder Goes Forth, Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson will reprise their roles as Blackadder and Baldrick.

Writer Richard Curtis told the Daily Express of the show's return: "We'd always said we'd do it, and yes we definitely still want to."

I read something about this but Curtis was strongly denying it saying he would be ready to do another series when he reached 65 which I believe is some way off. I would love to see a new series - I love watching the reruns - they never fail to entertain.

Didnt they do a Blackadder special for Sky a few years ago. All the old characters but no charm and no humour. Not sure if Richard Curtis was involved in the writing, but it was poor stuff. I hope they dont ruin the memories.

"Blackadder, Back and Forth" - but it wasn't exactly for Sky, it was for showing on a big screen at the Millennium Dome, where I saw it. BSkyB, through a sponsorship deal had the rights to show the first televised broadcast and it was shown later on terrestrial television. It was written by Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson and I agree with you it wasn't very good, probably because it was commissioned as a one off.
