It makes my blood boil that Channel 4 - now paid as they are to show racing - took the opportunity after the Leger meeting was transferred to York for a 2 day meeting - have decided only to show 2 days .
OK the racing will be on ATR - crap as it is in its presentation of live racing - but this has meant that the meeting has been turned on its head and is completely unbalanced. The Wednesday card is now like Ascot Heath day at the end of the Royal meeting - one listed race and a lot of supporting routine stuff . The Champagne Stakes which used to be Friday's big race is now a side show at the top of the Saturday card .
Doncaster has also followed the ultimate naffness recently shown by York of having several fillies races on " ladies Day " . The idea this will appeal to the " ladies " attending - the vast majority of whom are there to dress up or get pissed out of their heads or both is absurd . Moreover, the cards are unbalanced and boring as a result .
This appears to be a legacy of Adam waterworth's tenure - now off to Goodwood - perhaps he and C4 will be agreeing to only show three days of that and unbalance that meeting too.
