Hi i am looking for feed back on the following situation that happened recently.I was following a horse that was entered to run in Down Royal on Friday just gone. I checked online on Thursday after work to see what price he was and saw that he was 10 to 1 with a few bookmakers. I thought this was value so went into my local bookie office and re checked his price in the shop. He was still 10 to 1. I went to the counter and handed in my docket which included the price of 10 to 1. The cashier checked her system to make sure that was the correct price which it was and processed the bet. This was Thursday evening.
The horse ran on Friday in Down Royal and won by a neck at an sp of 4 to 1.
I went in the collect my winnings on Saturday after work. When i gave my docket to the cashier which was the same branch i placed the bet, she said she could not locate the bet. She asked where i placed the bet and i told her it was in the same shop. She eventually found it and said i would only be paid on the sp of 4 to 1 not the 10 to 1 i had taken as she said the were not giving odds on Thursday, which is untrue. They refused to honour my bet at the odds i had taken and advised me to contact their customer service team if i was unhappy.
I contacted their customer service to complain but they said they would only pay the sp price and evaded my questions as to why they had prices up in shop and why the cashier had checker the price before processing.
I am looking for advise on how to hold this bookie to account. They are one of the biggest bookies in Ireland and UK. Regards
