Or rather - I suspect this is a bot related question.

Horse plays up in the stalls and gets withdrawn with insufficient time to create a new market on Betfair so the race gets run with the horse still in the betting but all stakes refunded at the end.

Why do prices continue to be shown against the beast in running, with money appearing to be traded?

Assuming that bots is the answer - how does it affect their percentages on the rest of the runners - do they get filled in on the race?

Explain please - I'm sure someone knows the answer?

As it seems unlikely that anyone is going to answer you on this, I’ll keep you company out of politeness.

My guess (in truth it’s more of an ‘understanding’) is that teams of nano robots trade on alternative ‘parallel universe’ scenarios, factoring in likely outcomes had the horse taken part. The accrued data from these played out predictions are then fed into a multi-verse trading platform with the accrued returns put into off-planetary system accounts and left to collect compound interest over millennia. The fact that we see amounts being traded here is because it is too much of a faff to exclude this universe from an infinite number of others.

The funds are then transferred to the Bank of Ireland and redistributed into Coolmore’s worldwide breeding operation to create a farm of virtual inter-dimensional breeding stock. The idea is to establish Sadler’s Wells as the tail-male line of choice in all possible worlds (except the universe in which Sadler’s Wells and Coolmore don’t exist – an empty and barren place in which Darley call the shots).

I’m out on a limb in fleshing out parts of the detail, but in essence this is what I believe is happening.

This will be the one where Denman actually is better than Kauto Star, is my guess.

 That would be the one I suppose in which they meet four times in the world’s most high calibre steeplechase and Denman finishes in front of him three times.
