British Trainer's Championship

Not sure but I would love him to win it this season. Would not do Nicholl's any harm, to need to fight to get it back. He seems to have lost enjoyment and not coping all that well with the pressure. Who knows, perhaps it is true that uneasy lies the head who wears the crown.

Henderson has put so much into racing, and given us years of pleasure, deserves to be champion at least once. Would just feel sorry for Fitzy if this happened.

About £100K I think, and of course PHN has extended his lead today. It's easy to check this on the RP website.

There's absolutely no need for PHN to feel uneasy, not that I believe for one moment that he does. So his stable has suffered a slight dip in form, as all yards do during the course of a season; don't worry, they'll be back, with a vengeance.

I agree - did not mean to insinuate that Henderson was likely to win it - Paul has fso much more ammuniation than anyone else has. Would just be nice if he did. In my opinion......

it would be nice for henderson to win it but his strentgh is with hurdlers whilst nichols strenght is with chasers and being the prize money is greater for for chases nichols will have the advantage

Bar Kauto Star I really dont see all these horses that have under performed...just beaten by better horses.

No, you are right trackside. I don't know how many times he was champion but I read him say in a recent interview something along the lines of he felt he was lucky to have won a championship having come inbetween Dickinson and Pipe.

1988 - 89 Martin Pipe
1987 - 88 David Elsworth
1986 - 87 Nicky Henderson
1985 - 86 Nicky Henderson
1984 - 85 Fred Winter
1983 - 84 Michael Dickinson

Hhhmm...it said today on BBC, and I'm sure he said it himself in an interview, that he'd never been Champion.

Certainly will have helped, Gal, he's only about 30 grand behind Nicholls now, I think.

Henderson commented after Binocular's race that he couldn't afford for the race not to be run given the pot on offer. Safe to say he thinks he's in with a chance, then. Either that or he's on the verge of bankruptcy, which I think is safe to say is not the case...

Old thread but looking att he figures after last week, it appears Mullins is going for this now and will send more horses than usual to Aintree and then some to Sandown

The Grand National could play a big part in this now

Even if Nicholls finishes above Mullins in the money, the world and his dog knows that Mullins is the champion trainer.

Mullins 1,727,638.45p

PN 1,852,916.58p

PN has no chance of winning he simply doesn't have the big race ammo

Nicky would need to win the National to win it

In Total Mullin to date has won another 2.5million over jumps Plus another 800K he picked up on the flat in 2015

Over 5 million in a year and he's not finished yet

To be fair to NJH and PN he's just got better backing than they have at the moment..all 3 are brilliant........almost as good as Jonjo I'd say

Out of all last weeks glorious Cheltenham memories, the training performance by Nicky Henderson with Sprinter Sacre and My Tent Or Yours were above all others.
Both "finished" in everyone's eyes

And could win the National yet. :)

i wouldn't say either were "finished" in most eyes Harry..SS had run to a decent level this year..165/168...and when UDS and ST took each other on it sort of gifted the race to something behind..that said..you still had to beat them..truly typical Henderson effort...nowhere near the SS of old imo..190 hoss at best?..but he didn't need to be once UDS had burnt his boats...was a sitting duck...a great great training performance..i feel all the first 3 will suffer just because of the pace they ran in that race..time will tell

he may or may not wear a wig..or is it a bad dye job?..who the f00k knows?..or talk dead straight ...but as far as training hosses is concernd he is right up there..one of the best..wonder what his £ spent to £ win is?

MTOY was apparently giving 600lbs to a 158 hoss in a gallop...so we knew there was something still there...for those of us with memories..remember See You Then?....he got 3 CH's out of that hoss..most trainers would have struggled to get one..the man has limitless patience

so when Nicky perseveres..its because something is still there

This is what kept going through my mind every time I thought "surely he can't get a win out of a horse off the track for 600 odd days"
