Must have got pretty cold during the night.

The temperature in my bedroom when I woke up this morning was 19C, the lowest it's been since last winter. I'm not complaining about that (or anything for that matter) as I don't mind the room being cool so long as I'm comfortable.

When I looked out the window the car was sparkling with frost, the first time since last winter. I decided I could do without the morning paper (even though the beast has that wonderful heated front windscreen and seats) and will pick it up when I'm out getting the messages later.

But it does put me in the mood for the jumps racing on TV!

lol. 19c.

When my house is at 19c it's either summer or the heating is about to go off.

It was 10c in my gaff this morning as I forewent the pleasure of heating the entire house last night (at 60p a litre no one can afford oil heating).

I did take the liberty if sticking the heating on until it got back up to 16c.

As our boiler is still out of action for central heating (does allow us to use hot water!) just having to suffer for another 2 weeks!

Check the zone valve. At present mine doesn't automatically do the heating, but I can manually switch the zone valve open to do so.

It's a box about 10cm square with a lever sticking out of the top of it - probably somewhere near your hot water tank.

The advantages of timber frame construction and top spec insulation!

The disadvantage is that if it's warm in the summer my bedroom can still 27C during the night with the windows open!

You name a part its been changed in the last 5 weeks so the Housing Office finally agreed to replace it - their bad as if they had fixed it first time they wouldnt be shelling out now for a new boiler plus 5 new radiators!!

Hilarious how a thread about a lovely crisp morning can turn into a B&Q style central heating debate
