Has anyone been?

Now the government are less twatty than they used to be and opposition groups are saying tourists should go, I am considering it in November. Easy enough to get to from Europe too, direct flight to Singapore around £550 and a 2.5 hour flight from there to Rangoon for less than £100.

Looks like the type of place that Thailand (and soon to be Vietnam and Cambodia) used to be before butchered.

Any recommendations would be welcome, I know there's some well travelled beings lurking on here.

Never been, but I know a few people who have and I've heard nothing but good things.

Brother & Sister in law spent 6 weeks there last winter and raved about it. They're old school travellers and were doing Vietnam, Cambodia etc 10/15 yrs ago and say it's on a par. Watch out for the Buddhist monks mind, as hear they're not that friendly....
