Now I came face to face with a Great White Shark once. Alright, so it wasn't at Skegness, and I paid something like 750 rand (about £50 then) for the privledge of being slung into a re-conditioned hamster cage and dangled in the water some where close to Cape Town. A really quite terrific and awe inspiring creature, though I distinctly remember being told not to blow any bubbles in case I scared it off!!! I also remember asking our guide (some nutter called Gerald I seem to recall) about whether the UK was likely to attract this apex predator in the future in line with global warming etc He was reasonably adamant that we already probably have, and was convinced it was only a matter of time before the proof turned up
