I'm very much in the Susie camp.

Most of my friends/collegues think I'm bonkers. They are all adamant that Carol is far more attractive/saucy, but I think she's over the hill now, has had far too much plastic sugery and fancies herself far too much. In addition, she plummeted in my estimations when she started doing loan ads. To see a woman who is much respected for her mathmatical skills trying to convince people to take-out a high interest loan makes me sick. She has sold-out big-time.

I often go for studious/sophisticated types (they do say "opposites attract") and I think Susie is the more attractive (but in a much more modest and unasuming way). Don't be fooled though - I reckon she's a proper minx in the sack! Lexicography? Sex-icography more like! Pwoaaarrr!

Please share your thoughts.

PS I was going to do a poll for the ladies too, but I didn't think Lynam v Brandreth was much of a contest.

It's funny you should mention that - they were the exact thoughts that went through my head a few days ago when the advert was on & I actually saw it!

You and I are kindred spirits, Relkeel. I regularly pulled my wire as a young buck to Susie. I imagined her luring me into dictionary den, tantalising me with word play, foreplay and then full-on slap and tickle.

She is clever, pretty, very kind to contestants who declare six when they only have a five-letter word and (I like to imagine) a caring and tactile lover.

Her (Vorderman, that is) "the internet is the root of all evil, and I should know because I can do simple maths!" rants put me right off her.

I've never found myself thinking along those lines about either. It's one of the things I like about the programme: in spite of all her efforts Ms V couldn't look sexy if she spent another five years a few million trying. At least Ms D doesn't try. In any event, it means there's no distraction from the game.

Susie: "Darling - that's from the Old English deorling - would you fancy a 16th Century offensive word of Germanic origin tonight?"

If we're thinking of the same word Krizon, then my understanding is that there is evidence of Shakespeare having used it somewhat earlier than the 16th Century. Although I suppose you could argue that he is German. Or Danish. Or Norwegian or French or something.

Typical male reaction.....

If Carole had stayed relatively frumpy and kept a lower profile (like Susie), I doubt this poll would be on here. The fact the the woman's got a life, got herself together and is making serious money generates the usual oh so wonderful British 'let's bash those that make it' syndrome. And looking at the picture Susie has evidently had some publicist release on her behalf, I'd guess it won't be long beore she's following a similar path...

It took a lot of guts and determination to reinvent herself as she has and a serious amount of self-discipline. So what if she's had some Nip/Tuck?

All credit to her B)

Songsheet,

good reply in principle, but I don't think it's Vorderman's success which has made her a figure of vilification among the esteemed members of the board. We're not always terribly clever, us blokes, but we can spot a wrong 'un.

Considering some of the sentimental, rose-tinted cak on the George Best thread above, I seriously, seriously doubt that...... :P
