With producers and script-writer deciding that baccarat is not cool enough for today's audience, the big game with Le Chiffre becomes no limit Texas Hold'em in the film currently being shot.

Actor/professional poker player and member of the Hendon Mob Ross Boatman is the poker advisor on the film and they auditioned dealers from the Vic to take part.

I can tell you that, unlike in many films, the game is realistic - until Bond goes skint in a big pot, borrows a few quid from one of his mates to get back in the game, then makes a runner, runner straight flush to get out of it!

Just like real life...

With which bit do you disagree? You may think that he's neither a good poker nor a good actor, but he is a professional actor who earns money by playing poker and who has played for years in all the top European and many of the US tournaments. So if you were a film producer who wanted someone with experience of film-making and poker at the highest level you'd struggle to find too many alternatives based in Europe.

It gets worse. They decided to cast a French actor as the dealer and have taken him to the Gutshot club to be taught how to do it.

Daniel Craig doesn't know how to change gear in the Aston Martin as he has one of those licences for automatic cars only. While there is an Aston in the film, the ond car is a Ford Mondeo! Fords have paid £14m for a three film product placement for a souped up version of the salesmens' favourite car to feature.

Mondeo Man lives! You'll be telling me he lives in a flat over an Italian restaurant in Chingford, next, Brian; shops at Asda and has a Super-Saver card... how downmarket can the poor man get?

The producers would claim that it's a super-charged Mondeo capable of 140 mph which has all the usual gadgets from Q.

Ah, but does it have a hook upon which he can hang his jacket when he's driving between one sales call and another?
