Now I may have missed something here - but I cant believe that noone else has been to see this - I went on Monday and it is fantastic! We thought it is much better than the original, but you cant really compare them - both are well, fab!

(but i have to say - Monsieur Depp is infinately more beautiful that Gene Wilder.... )
 
I so want to see this but my 6yo neighbour has gone on holiday for 2 weeks so I shall have to wait until he returns. It looks brilliant!

Ffs, Quasimodo is better looking than Gene Wilder.
 
The original knocks spots off the new film. Gene Wilder is an absolute deadpan genius. Depp is good but Wilder is Willy Wonka.
 
I agree. I brought up Little Miss Dessie on Willie Wonka and it is a wondrous film. Mr Depp might be a bit of eye-candy to the ophthalmologically-challenged on here but the original will always be the best.
 
I took the girls to see it the day it came out. Daisy had been rabbiting on and on and on about it ever since she saw a trailer at the cinema about six months ago. She wasn't disappointed :) Even three year old Emily watched it without fidgeting too much :lol:
 
I watched the film thinking Willie Wonka was Jim Carey. I don't like Jim Carey. Had I known it was Johnny Depp I might have enjoyed it more. Changing the Umpa Lumpa song was unforgiveable. I know the film was based on the book, not the original film, but you have to keep the Umpa Lumpa song.

Son and heir enjoyed it though.
 
I'm dying to see it - but I refuse to subject myself to Gib cinema & all the heckling, mobile-phone-using little gits that use it! I saw the original again last month & was reminded what a great film it was - it's actually pretty dark, Gene Wilder is superb!
