I stopped betting there months ago hardly any runners the surface looks appalling it's been rewaxed whatever that means watched a few races last night and it doesn't look any different it looks very hard for any horse to come from off the pace there's a 11,000 race tonight two runners the place is a joke. Any opinions anyone else swerving the kharsi or punting there!

Punting there.

7.20 - Chelmsford - Major Jack. 2 pts win. Available at 5/1.

The chances of this race being run at anything other than a breakneck speed look very slim. That will suit Major Jack who, even though yet to get his head in front this season, has improved on last season's form. He was a bit below the performance levels he had set in his first four starts of this campaign last time out at Goodwood but he still wasn't beaten far in midfield, despite not having the clearest of runs. His four previous starts on the A/W all came last season and all over today's trip, two here and two at Lingfield. He won two of them, finished a very close second in one and went down by just over a length in fourth to Out Do in the last of them. That last effort came over this C/D and looks a piece of very solid form having been franked on numerous occasions since. Major Jack is now five pounds higher in the weights but the improvement he has found on turf this season is likely to be transferred back to this surface and that could make his present mark within reach. Major Jack has raced exclusively at six furlongs so far but he has stamina on his Dam's side and that may prove an asset in this race if they do go off hard. The yard are in good form and they send their very first runner to Chelmsford. He is partnered by the ever impressive George Baker who travels from Kempton for just the one booked ride on the card.

I've ran out of patience with him but best of luck anyway.
The two in that race that I find interesting are the 3 years olds at bottom of weights..personal preference is for Red Stripes, whose handy style of running suits around here and 80 looks a winning mark to me.

Major Jack will turn it around form-wise at some point, but I still feel a horse like Red Striped will essentially steal the race from the front, with Jack a staying on and unlucky third. ! :) Good luck though.

From Mr Charlton's website:

Major Jack was struck into badly behind at Chelmsford by another horse and jockey, and sadly lost his life. I appreciate that this can happen in racing, but I find it very hard to accept. He had been here a long time and we were all very fond of him, as was his owner and the lads that looked after him.

Jockey error or had the surface any part to play one wonders?
