Cheltenham 2025

After the Christmas contests it’s got more difficult to guess who is going to go where.

I'd say Bet365 will go NRNB fairly soon -Pat Cooney hinted at it on RTV today.I don't bet with Hills after a dispute 22 years ago.

Down to the racing. Much has been made of how Ballyburn will be better over a longer trip. So much do he is now clear favourite for the Browns Advisory. I think he is simply overrated and WPM has a mucchc better prospect in the wings in the unbeaten Impaire Et Passe who looks am even better chaser than he was a hurdler. Currently 14/1 he looks excellent value.

Is it worth a thread all of its own?

I thought I'd start this one based on this item in the RP:

Jonbon is already 2/1 for the Champion Chase with Gaelic Warrior and Energymene tight behind...can't wait to see WH price with a run...2/1 should be with a run now

An excuse to rip the ass out of prices 90% will be better prices on the day...

Yes, but...

Finding the 10% is part of the fun and the NRMB means if you do like one some way out you're not going to be throwing your money away if it doesn't run or goes to another race. In fact, it allows you to back one horse for as many races as you think it might be entered for.

And it does get interest going in what might otherwise be a stagnant ante-post market due to WPM bingo.

According to Willie Impaire Et Passe will not run at Cheltenham because he is a 2.5 mile horse.Fairyhouse is the target.

The Power Gold Cup at the Irish Grand National meeting.Willie and Ruby have both mentioned it.
That would be the race wpm had the first 3 in last April..was run under a different name.
Much depends on what happens between now and March...I personally wouldn't touch Ballyburn with a barge pole

Yup as in why did you mess with the Turners Chase.
I'm still on the fence as to whether they are wrong or right, but you have to admit there was a huge problem and both the Arkle and RSA were suffering, it was too easy for horses to avoid each other and owners/trainers to keep horses apart.

I'd have kept the Turners and cut the Arkle.
I assume you are fishing but grade 1, 2m novice chasing is about as good as it gets. Personally I'd have removed the 3m race but I can see why they didn't, I just think 3m Championship chases can really leave a mark on a horse.
