The rules:

- As many bets as you like up to €1,000 per day (Tuesday-Friday).
- Win/Place bets only.
- Forumite with most winnings (or least losses!) after Friday's card will be declared the winner.
- In event of a tie, number of winners tipped will decide the outcome (followed by number of placed horses etc.)
- Selections must be made by 1pm each day.

The prize:

€50 win/place bet on the Aintree Grand National

The winner will also be declared Champion Talking Horses Irish NH Tipster 2009.

Any disputes will be resolved by trackside and his say is final!

All forum members (new and old) are welcome to get involved. Good luck to all!

Everybody might as well have a bash - if the prestige of being declared Champion Tipster isn't enough to entice, then the generous price certainly should do. Thanks again to Gal for putting it up - absolute legend.

I would think the settler will just have to quarter the SP odds. Are we having separate threads for all four days or just banging the selections in here?
 
I took placed to mean E/W ~ 1/4 SP as Euro mentioned.

In the absence of anyone smarter than me, that's how they'll be settled!
 
Each-Way would mean to win and to place though - place only betting generally speaking isn't possible due to races such as the Supreme Novices where the odds for GMOOH to place in real terms (and in terms of a bet worth laying) aren't 1/4 or 1/5 of the SP.

Edit to add it doesn't bother me either way if you can do place only betting or not just a note of interest.

That's ok as long as the place is part of an each way bet. If people are having place only suggestions, then as Martin says, it's potentially a bit farcical. I'd either rule out place only bets, or settle them at tote dividends which would be more realistic. But as long as we know for sure before we start, then that's fine.
