I'm not in the habit of trying to check out meetings a month in advance let alone a fortnight, but I have to wonder who is in charge of designing the Cheltenham website.

I have a holiday booked 27 Oct - 03 Nov so decided to check if I was missing anything important over the jumps.

It turns out the 'Showcase' meeting is straddled by these dates. Off the top of my head, I can't recall if the old Mackeson is that meeting or the next one but it's obviously a race I look forward to immensely.

There is nothing on the 'big race entries' section at the RP site so I'm presuming it isn't this meeting.

I went in to the Cheltenham website and it mentions the meeting but when I click on 'more info' all I'm seeing is the usual shite about tickets and hospitality stuff. Nothing about the actual racing.

Anyone know which races are on during that meeting? Is that the Greatwood Meeting?

It is - the showcase is the first one. They don’t get to the good races like the cross country until the November meeting.

Historically the Showcase meeting was midweek and was bang average. It is definitely attracting a better quality of horse and more competetive fields these days.

Talking Horse ‘Giovinco’ runs in a novice chase this weekend.

Can’t have it myself, but will watch with interest should he go here or Carlisle.
