Have heard that the plans to build the new football stadium have been amended and that, instead of putting it in one of the adjacent fields used as a car park, the plan is now to build it where the Tented Village normally stands. This means that the Guinness enclosure will now be permanently occupied by a double-sided stand - one side facing the pitch and the other giving the same view as the Guiness stand.

Can't see how this would work without killing the view from the Paddock Stand and - Heaven forbid - the Royal Box!

Just hope it's another crack-brained idea from Cheltenham Planning Division.

If it does go ahead, might be worth suggesting to the racecouse and the football club to have a greyhound track installed as well so that we can all roll from one event to another without having to go into town.

Mind you, I don't hold out much hope of that as the last time a greyhound track was suggested (when the Prince of Wales Stadium was built), Cheltenham Borough Council rejected it as being "too flat cap" for the image of the town!

Has the CBC actually attended a dogs meeting in the last 30 years? Perhaps they'd like to visit Hove, for starters, to see the tiered restaurant facility and the smart/casual turn-out? As for 'flat caps' - I've never seen so many as there are at their sacred Festival! Tweed, of course, but still flat 'ats, and plenty of wellies, woollen scarves, and rustic Glaaarstershoire aaaccents to go with them. Get a grip, Chelty snobs!
